2014/2015 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the largest national art contest inthe USA. It is first judged on a regional basis. The Regional Massachusetts awards included many students from the Gallery.  Keep in mind that there are over 15,000 submissions across the state.

The ceremony shown was for the 7th and 8th grade students (this is the firsttime that most of them submitted, as it begins in 7th grade).
Only gold keys artwork is  exhibited; however, silvers were invited to the ceremony.

Abbe Gould, a Marlboro student at the studio who has been taken lessons now for 3 year, was the only student in this category
that won not one but two golds. She is shown standing next to her painting of her home. She submitted two versions of her house and won on both.

Megan Scott, another Marlboro student won a gold key also, she is not shown next to her painting of the girl with hat (self portrait) Anna Cherkinskia, another Marlboro student won a gold key for her still life of "chair with reflection".

Joyce Fang of Westboro won a gold Key for her painting of herself as a little girl with a goose in the background.

Max Terra of Marlboro won a silver Key for his depiction of the Gristmill in Sudbury.

Not shown are my High School students who also won awards including; Anna
Li, Sarah Hulton and Allie Callebrese.

The gold key winners will be judged on March 16th for the national
competition . I am exceptionally proud of all of them.
